Guest Post: 365 days of Color Water Marble Tutorial

Today I have a guest post from the AMAZING Sunny at 365 Days of Color on how to do a gorgeous water marble. Here it is!
------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Dolls!!!

I was so flattered when Kim asked me to do a guest post about water marble, it seriously made my day because I'm still pretty new to marbling! Anyways, today I would like to share with you a simple tutorial on how I marble my nails and hopefully it will help you all out!

I usually start out with a base color, and most the time its white, so I went ahead and added two coats of Color Club French Tip to my nails. You don't have to worry about messiness here because at the end you're gonna clean everything up anyways! When they are dry I tape off each nail individually.  Now this is something I like to do, but my sister (another polish-aholic) thinks I'm CRAZY!!! She just dips her whole nail into the pot and gets paint on her fingers..I personally don't like that! too much to clean up!

Next set everything up.  Get a cup and fill it with LUKEWARM water, you don't want hot or cold because the paint wont spread! Make sure all your caps are open to make it easier, and then have some toothpicks around!

Start adding drops of polish in your choice of order, watch each drop as it spreads, I've found it easier to wait til the polish has spread completely before adding a new drop, but you don't have to wait because they will all eventually spread.

Now take your toothpick and drag it across the polish in any design you like. This is totally up to you, do whatever you like!

Once you are satisfied slowly dip your finger in to the cup.  Let your finger sit in the cup for about 20 seconds, and then pull your finger out :)

Contine these steps for all your nails and then clean up!

Add a top coat and viola!!! You're done!!

Well there you have it! Water marbling is pretty easy, you just havta have some patience for it! The colors that were used in this post are all from China Glaze and they are Dance Baby (pink), Peachy Keen (orange), Happy Go Lucky (yellow), and Gaga For Green (green)

I want to thank Kim so so soooo much for letting me do this. It was so much fun!!! THANK YOU!!!!

NOTD: OPI Plugged in Plum with OPI Divine Swine

Good morning ladies! I hope you're all having a fabulous and relaxing weekend. Any exciting plans for Memorial Day tomorrow? My boyfriend and I will be on a boat all day enjoying the Florida sunshine and after the work week I've had, I cannot wait!

Yesterday I went to the nail salon with my sister in laws so they could get a fill and I finally decided to get an acrylic overlay on my real nails. Unfortunately, no matter what product I use my nails constantly chip, break or peel. I, for one, am fed up! It costs a little bit less than if you were to get a full set of acrylics but a lot less damaging to your nails because they don't grind them down.

This is two coats of OPI Plugged in Plum with an accent of an OPI white with two coats of OPI Divine Swine.

I'm sooooo obsessed with Divine Swine. It's the perfect mix of plum glitters with silver hexagon glitters. I asked the girl at the counter if they would sell it to me and she said if they had an extra in the back it would be no problem. But, unfortunately they didn't :( so I'm still on the hunt for it!

Our nails! They all look so gorg I can't stop looking at them!

Well that's all for now I'm about to get my tan on! Have a great Memorial Day loves!

Cult Nails: Fairy Tale Collection

Hello lovelies and happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week & get to do something fun on this long, Memorial Day Weekend!

Like I mentioned in my last post, I had the privilege of attending the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers meet-up last Saturday (more about that in the following post). It was a blast chatting with some super sweet ladies about something we all obsess over, and I'll be attending two more meet-ups within the next month or so that I'm ecstatic for!

We each received a sponsor bag from different sponsors which is so thoughtful and amazing of them. One member of the group who is also a sponsor is the lovely Maria from Cult Nails. She so graciously provided each of us the entire set of her unreleased Fairy Tale collection (!!!!) and I couldn't wait to get swatching!

L-R: Feelin' Froggy, Happy Ending, Princess, Evil Queen and Charming

First up is Feelin' Froggy. This is described as a kelly green with a green metallic shimmer. Super gorgeous. I've never really been a big green polish kind of girl, but this has definitely changed my mind. I was worried that the shimmer wouldn't transfer on to the nail, but I was glad to find out that it did!

Two coats & so much shimmery goodness!

Feelin' Froggy with a Happy Ending

Next, we have Charming. Charming is described as a sheer purple creme with purple metallic shimmer. I love purple for the 'Charming' polish because that's exactly what I think of for Prince Charming. Purple, royalty, you get where I'm going. I'm not kidding you when I say this polish is VERY sheer. I needed three coats for full opacity, but it's going to be amazing for layering. I can't wait to try out a jelly sandwich with this one!

Three coats

Princess is the next polish up and she's probably my second favorite from the collection. Princess is described as soft, dusty sky blue with a copper shimmer. At first when I saw this polish I immediately thought of Sinful Colors Cinderella, but they are NOTHING alike, Princess is a lot darker. The formula for this is was flawless. This is one coat ya'll. Just one. I'm seriously obsessed! I even left it on for a few hours because I didn't want to take it off right away.

One coat

The copper shimmer really translates on to the nail. Pictures don't do it justice!

Finally, we have the Evil Queen.

Can I please just tell you ladies something? The. Perfect. Red. This is my favorite from the collection. I'm 100% serious when I tell you I don't even like red polishes, to the point where I have TWO in my entire collection (that I never wear). But when I put this color on my nails, I literally stopped breathing for a second. Evil Queen is described as a true red creme with a few pink undertones. Now I don't know if it's the somewhat pink undertones that changed my mind, but I'm in love.

My goodness! Isn't she breathtaking?!

Evil Queen gets her Happy Ending!

Cult Nails is having a pre-sale event starting TOMORROW (5/26) through Saturday June 2, 2012. The price for this collection during the pre-sale will be $40 (that's like getting on free!) or you can wait until they go on sale individually on June 15th for $10 a piece!

Overall: This collection is the perfect fairy tale. The colors and the names fit so well. The application of them was flawless, some possible 1 coaters! I love the concept because it reminds me of my favorite show, ABC's Once Upon A Time!

What do you think of the newest Cult collection? Will you be purchasing during the presale or wait until the individual sale? Any Once Upon A Time fans on here? I love to hear your thoughts & opinions in the comments, I read & respond to all!

Stick around for my Central Florida Beauty Bloggers post!
